The Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, in the just concluded synod of the Diocese of Abuja, has urged all Christians to take the covid-19 vaccine.
The Primate, in his speech on Saturday, stressed that Christians especially Church leaders should not be partakers of false rumors saying that the vaccine is a medication and not an agent of the end time antichrist ‘666’.
“We are grateful to God almighty for being counted among the living inspite of the raging covid-19 pandemic. We are in the second wave of this pandemic, and it is already in our communities. Some medical information has it that just as there is an Indian variant of the covid-19, ravaging India now there is also a Nigerian variant of the virus. This calls for caution on our part, as individuals and as church leaders. Covid-19 is real and it kills. Some people are campaigning that people should not take the covid-19 vaccine. As leaders we must not spread unfounded fears amongst our people. There is no founded fact to the story that covid-19 vaccine will transmit the antichrist number ‘666’ to people. Covid-19 is a virus that is killing our people and like the polio vaccines and the yellow fever vaccines and other virus caused diseases we must fight it to save our people. We want to encourage everyone to take the vaccine. I want to say that I myself and my wife, we have also taken the vaccine. And we want to encourage people to take the vaccine and fight this virus until it is conquered.”
