COVID-19: Aisha Buhari calls for total shutdown of all activities

As Nigeria records its first death of Coronavirus, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has called for the total shut down of all activities. 

She made her opinion known on social media on Monday while commending state governors for closing down schools.

“It is commendable that state governors have closed down schools.” 

Mrs Buhari, however, said, the effort will be counterproductive without if parents still go to work.

“However, this could be counterproductive if parents are still going to work. We should not isolate students and expose their parents.

Nigeria recorded its first death from the coronavirus pandemic. The Nigerian Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) reported death after confirming five new cases.

“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK.“He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy. Our thoughts are with his family.” the center disclosed.

So far, there are thirty-five confirmed cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, Lagos has 24, FCT – 6, Ogun – 2, Ekiti – 1, Oyo – 1, and Edo – 1.

The Nigerian government has shut down all international airports, banned public gatherings, and closed down schools.
