On Saturday, the Abuja Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, marked its 35th anniversary, with Primate of All Nigeria, Most Reverend Dr. Henry Ndukuba, urging the federal government to revitalize the country’s agro-industries to address pressing social and economic issues.
During a special ceremony to commemorate the anniversary, Primate Ndukuba, who reflected on the theme “Renewed to Soar Higher”, expressed gratitude for the church’s growth and survival in the face of numerous challenges. He highlighted the progress made in the last 35 years, particularly in service to God and His people.
The Primate also stressed the potential of the country’s agro-industries in transforming Nigeria’s economy. He pointed out that revitalizing sectors like cotton production in Funtua and maize farming in the north could feed both the Nigerian population and the rest of Africa, while providing jobs and boosting economic growth.
“If we focus on agro-industries, we can industrialize the country, create jobs, and generate government revenue through taxes,” he said. “By processing agricultural products like tomatoes, we can not only feed our nation but also restore dignity to families.”
Despite the country’s current struggles, Ndukuba encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, praying for renewed strength and determination to break through challenges. He reaffirmed his belief that with faith in God, Nigeria could overcome obstacles and rise to new heights.
“The Lord will lift our nation in His time. We are sending a message of hope that we will not lose trust in God,” he said.
Primate Ndukuba closed with a prayer for Nigeria’s prosperity, emphasizing the nation’s vast resources and potential to transform both Africa and the world. “Nigeria has the potential to be a catalyst for change in the world, and with God’s help, we will fulfill that destiny.”
