In a recent development, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced a petrol price increase in Abuja, raising the pump price by 14.8% to N1,030 per litre from the previous N897.
This latest adjustment marks the second increase within just one month, following a significant hike in September when the price rose from N615 per litre to N897.
At the NNPC Retail mega station in Abuja, where the new pricing has been implemented, motorists were taken aback by the sudden change. Many expressed their frustrations about the ongoing economic challenges and the rising cost of living.
“It’s hard to believe. I’ve been waiting in line for nearly an hour, and I had no idea they raised the price again,” said Usman Abah, a taxi driver. “It feels like those in power don’t care about the struggles we face every day. This is just another burden for us.”
Drivers and customers alike voiced concerns over how these increases will further strain their finances, highlighting the pervasive sentiment of hardship in the country.
