Even as the globally dreaded COVID – 19 keeps trembling nations by its near-invincible spread, Bishop Humphrey B. Olumakaiye (Ph.D.) the Diocesan and Missioner, Diocese of Lagos has admonished the Church and, indeed the world not to panic nor lose faith over the battle against the pandemic.

He gave the admonition in his message this morning in commemoration of Good Friday, marking the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

According to the Bishop: “What happened today, Good Friday, is telling us that physical suffering is part of life. But evil can never triumph over good. God, who promises every good thing, has allowed a deadly virus to sweep through every country in the world.

“We must know that there is something immovable. There is someone whose promise remains unaffected. There is a message which stands, no matter where the Coronavirus spreads, “I AM the Lord that healeth thee”. This pandemic is not the last word, just like the darkness on Good Friday was not the last statement, on Sunday Christ resurrected, very soon the whole world will raise a banner of victory over the pandemic.

“As we face growing fear and anxiety due to the coronavirus pandemic. God must be our source of protection, strength and peace during these times of uncertainty.

“Trust Him and He will use even this pandemic for His glory.”; Olumakaiye sermonised.

He recalled that the pandemic has reminded the great superpowers of the world and the big stars around us that human beings are not in control, and must always be dependent on God.
