The Christian community in Bauchi State on Sunday united in prayer across various churches, seeking divine intervention for peace, unity, and security in the state.

The prayer sessions followed a directive from the State Ministry of Religious Affairs and Community Development after a recent stakeholders’ meeting.

The exercise focused on restoring peace and stability, especially in response to recent attacks by suspected bandits in parts of Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Speaking during a session at GoodNews Baptist Church, Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, the Resident Pastor, Ezekiel Oyebode, said lasting peace can only be achieved through God’s grace.

Quoting from the Bible, he encouraged Christians to rely on divine strength, adding that believers are positioned to thrive and fulfill their purpose despite challenges.

He also commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for what he described as an inclusive style of leadership that accommodates people of different backgrounds.

Oyebode further urged Christians to pray for a capable successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stressing the importance of leadership continuity for sustained development.

He led prayers for divine intervention against banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities, expressing confidence that such efforts would bring protection to residents.

The cleric, however, advised citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
