Generosity was on display as the Kano Anglican Church Women’s wing donated food items and essential supplies to inmates at the Goron Dutse Medium Security Custodial Centre in the state.

During their visit, the church delegation presented a variety of gifts, including food, toiletries, clothing, buckets, and seasonings, to support the inmates and improve their living conditions.

On Saturday, Mrs. Edna Ezike, Chairperson of the All Anglican Women, highlighted that this initiative was a meaningful way to assist those incarcerated.

Encouraging the inmates to see their time in custody as an opportunity for self-reflection and growth, Mrs. Ezike urged them to become positive role models upon their release. She emphasized the importance of avoiding past behaviors and embracing spiritual teachings while participating in the rehabilitation and reintegration programs offered at the facility, which can help them develop essential skills and new habits.

“Make the most of the skills you gain here. We care about your well-being, and these donations are intended to enhance your quality of life,” she said. Over the past three years, the group has consistently visited prisons to provide encouragement and support.

She also called on parents, guardians, and the community to guide their children along the right path, reminding everyone that prison is no place for youth, who represent the future of their families and society.

In conclusion, she urged philanthropists to regularly visit inmates, offering support and provisions to help them feel valued and cared for.

A staff member of the correctional center, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed gratitude for the donations, calling them timely and impactful. “We greatly appreciate this initiative, as these items will significantly enhance the welfare of our inmates. Thank you very much.”
