  • 3:5. and the sixth, Ithream, by David’s wife Eglah. These were born to David in Hebron.

STUDY:

Today’s passage compares the strength of the house of David with the strength of the house of Saul. “Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the House of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker” (v.1). Strength is the portion of those who abide in God’s Presence and obey his commandments. Psalm 84:7 says, “They go from strength to strength; one his face certainly brings strength.

The strength of David remained because he cultivated the habit of staying in the presence of God to renew that strength. On the contrary, king Saul disobeyed God and He rejected him for being a king in Israel (1 Sam. 15:11). He and his household also grew weak because he had disconnected himself from the source of his strength. Beloved, strength in life is a product of a personal relationship with the Lord.

Your personal encounter with God will make enable you confront the battles of life. To disconnect from God is to disconnect from the source of strength. When your life does not align with the will of God, your house will become a vegetable garden for the devil. The edge around your life and your destiny will be broken down and you will be vulnerable to attacks from the pit of hell. To stay strong, you need to seek God and his strength today in his Word and in prayer (1 Chron. 16:11).

PRAYER:

Almighty God, grant me grace to draw strength from your presence always, Amen!
