Topic:RAISING GODLY OFFSPRING
Text: Psalm 127:1-5
127:1 A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.
127:5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
STUDY:
It is natural for man to make efforts to sustain his life and that of his family. However, this psalm teaches man to depend on God for success in building lasting things, such as houses, families, businesses, national security, etc., otherwise, his efforts will fail. The Psalmist also emphasises that children come from the Lord and the man who has many children is not ashamed to engage enemies.
Notice that God is pointing our attention to a building that is topmost in His heart. It is the building of Christian homes, where children are born, saved and trained to help God administer the affairs of His eternal plan on earth. What are you exhaustively building and securing? Do you spend quality time to raise your children in the fear of God? Please allow God to teach you so that you can train your children in the way they should
go(Prov.22:6). Teach them to read, hear, study, memorise, and obey God’s word. Also teach them how to pray and depend on God. Are you a good example of a Christian parent to your children? Do something about it today!
Prayer:
Father; I declare today that I and the children you have given me. are for signs and wonders.
