The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Livingstone Urutugu, has vowed to bring to justice the killers of three siblings found stuffed inside a refrigerator in Nnewi. He revealed on Monday that the perpetrators are residents of the same neighborhood.
Barely two hours after assuming office at the state police headquarters in Awka, Urutugu traveled to Nnewi, where he met with the bereaved family and assured them of swift action. He reiterated his commitment to tackling crime and ensuring such heinous acts do not go unpunished.
“We are here today for an on-the-spot assessment of the unfortunate murder of three siblings who were found inside a refrigerator in Nnewi,” Urutugu stated.
“I am also here to console the family and reaffirm the Anambra State Police Command’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice. Unlike cases of kidnapping or sudden disappearances, this crime is particularly disturbing.
“We will uncover the truth, track down those responsible, and ensure they face the full weight of the law.”
Urutugu commended police officers for their dedication to combating crime and pledged continued support.
He added, “The people of Anambra, alongside the state government through Operation Udo ga Achi, have shown a strong collective stance against actions that threaten peace. It is encouraging to see communities working together to address security challenges.”
The CP also outlined strategies to strengthen crime prevention and intelligence gathering, emphasizing collaboration with sister security agencies, vigilante groups, and local stakeholders.
Calling on the public to remain vigilant and law-abiding, Urutugu warned criminals to reconsider their ways.
“For those who have chosen a life of crime, take this as a warning to change course. The command will deal decisively with all criminal elements, regardless of their status,” he concluded.
