AFCON 2025: Nigeria’s Road to Glory Starts Against Benin and Rwanda in Group D

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group D for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, alongside Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Libya.

The draw, conducted in South Africa on Thursday, sets the stage for the journey to Morocco in 2025.

A total of 48 countries were divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two teams from eleven groups will qualify directly for the finals, which are scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will take place during the FIFA windows in September, October, and November this year.

– Sept 2-10: Matchdays 1, 2
– Oct 7-15: Matchdays 3, 4
– Nov 11-15: Matchdays 5, 6

Liberia, Eswatini, South Sudan, and Chad won preliminary ties; the other 44 qualifiers received byes.

Winners and runners-up from each group will qualify, except for the group containing Morocco. Morocco will participate for competitive match practice but qualify automatically as hosts, so only the best-placed team among the other three will secure a spot. The AFCON will be hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
