Oyo School Abduction: Davido, Timaya, Victony Call for Victims’ Release

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Anthony Ebuka Victor, Adeleke David, and Inetimi Timaya Odon, popularly known as Victony, Davido, and Timaya respectively, have joined growing calls for the rescue of pupils, students, and teachers abducted during the recent school attack in Oyo State.

The victims were kidnapped by gunmen on May 15, 2026, from Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School in Esiele, all located in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Reports indicate that 39 students and seven teachers were abducted during the attack, while two teachers lost their lives. The incident has continued to generate widespread concern across the country, with many Nigerians demanding the safe return of those still being held captive.

Reacting to the development, Victony called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against insecurity and ensure the release of all kidnap victims, particularly children.

On his X handle, he wrote, “Save our children & Put an end to this mess @officialABAT.”

Davido also expressed sadness over the incident and the reported conditions being endured by the victims in captivity.

Reacting via his Snapchat page to reports about the victims’ continued ordeal, the singer wrote, “I’m weak. God pls take control. We can’t continue like this… my heart goes out to the victims and family .. this is messed up”

Timaya, on his part, urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address the growing security challenges facing the country.

“We appeal to the Government for even greater urgency, collaboration, and action in addressing the growing security challenges facing many parts of our country.”

The Oyo school abduction has remained a major national concern, with calls from citizens, civil society groups, labour unions, and public figures for authorities to secure the immediate and safe release of the abducted students and teachers.
