Topic: JESUS DELIVERS FROM BONDAGE
Text:Luke 4:31-37
4:31 Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.
4:32 And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.
4:33 Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,
4:34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
4:35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.
4:36Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.
4:37 And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.
STUDY:
In our text, Jesus came to a Galilean city called Capernaum and taught the people on Sabbath days. As He taught with authority, the people marvelled. A man under the bondage of demons spoke out loudly and asked Jesus if He had come to destroy them and requested Him to allow them remain in the man under their possession because they knew who Jesus really was. However, Jesus commanded them to shut up and get out of the man. The demons obeyed, threw the man down and went out of him, without hurting him. The audience became surprised saying that Christ’s words of command to the evil spirits had authority and power.
Jesus Christ was anointed to preach, heal, and deliver people from bondages (Luke 4:18-19). In our nation and elsewhere, many people are under the captivity of evil spirits. Demonic possession leads people to steal, kill, destroy, kidnap and commit suicide. Jesus simply commanded the demons to get out of the man and they obeyed. Are you under any type of demonic attack or possession? Call on Jesus Christ today for your deliverance. Reject demonic captivity and run to Christ for your freedom. If in doubt, see your Pastor.
Prayer:
Deliver me, O Lord, from every form of demonic activity in Jesus’Name. Amen.
