The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre Worldwide, Dr Paul Enenche, has said that Nigeria requires the mercy of God to overcome its numerous challenges.
According to a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Monday, Enenche made the remark while speaking with journalists in Makurdi, Benue State, shortly after his arrival for a two-day Healing and Deliverance Crusade.
He called on Nigerians to connect with the mercy of God, stressing that it would liberate the country and its citizens from the shackles holding them captive.
The cleric also urged leaders at all levels to look up to God, take responsibility for their actions, and demonstrate genuine concern for the welfare of the people.
“We are here to connect with the God of mercy. The Bible says it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion does not fail; they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness,” he said.
He added, “We live in a nation at a time when we need nothing but the mercy of God, whether it is the challenge of insecurity or any other situation threatening to consume the land. So, we are here to ask for mercy from God to prevent us from being consumed.”
“The Bible says they looked unto Him and were enlightened, and their faces were not ashamed. Therefore, let us look away from ourselves and other alternatives and look up to God. While we do our best to carry out the work of our Creator, let us trust God for His intervention,” Enenche added.
“Let the leadership of our nation and leaders at all levels take responsibility and have a heart for human beings. We trust God that He will help us.”
The church also disclosed that it organised a week-long outreach programme that commenced in Ankpa, Kogi State, on February 2 and concluded in Makurdi, Benue State, on February 7.
It noted that the outreach featured crusades, prayers, deliverance sessions, and a large-scale free medical programme.
According to the statement, residents of Ankpa, Gboko, and Makurdi benefited from the medical outreach, as teams of qualified health professionals provided free consultations, treatments, and diagnostic services.
The statement revealed that no fewer than 4,007 persons received medical attention during the outreach, including 235 dental scaling and polishing procedures and four routine tooth extractions.
“In Gboko, Benue State, 91 persons received medical treatment, while 42 dental procedures were carried out. In Makurdi, 62 persons were treated medically, with an additional 264 given prescriptions, alongside 106 dental scaling and polishing procedures and two tooth extractions.
“Some emergency cases were stabilised and referred for further treatment in Ankpa and Makurdi, respectively. Medical conditions treated during the outreach included hypertension, malaria, diabetes, skin diseases, ulcers, and urinary tract infections.
“Laboratory investigations such as malaria parasite tests, Widal tests, HIV 1 and 2 screening, hepatitis B and C tests, blood sugar tests, and abdominal pelvic screenings were also conducted. Dental and eye clinics were part of the programme, with corrective glasses prescribed for patients with eye defects, while those requiring specialist care were referred,” it read.
The statement added that beneficiaries also received food items, clothing, and other relief materials distributed by the church, in addition to the healthcare services.
