The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Dr. Henry Ndukuba has charged the people of Ogoja Diocese to brace up for the work to be done and the several contentions to deal with as the Missionary Diocese of Ogoja is being inaugurated.

He made this remark on his arrival at the Pro-Cathedral Church of St. Peter’s Church Igoli, Ogoja on Wednesday 3rd of December 2025.

Speaking from the book of Act 11:19-26, he noted that God used many to preach the gospel and plant churches and by their works, they were seen as a different people.

He remarked that as he was coming into Ogoja and Ikom, he felt the church was coming here so late with the expanse of mission work he has seen but assured that it’s better late than never in spreading the mission of Christ in this area.

“The creation of this Diocese is for missionary task and not for positions, reaching out to the hinterlands.”

He urged the new bishop, the Rt. Rev’d Ifeanyi Akunna to be the people’s Barnabas; encouraging the people and serving them through evangelism, prayers, teaching and being there for the people.

Charging members to work with their Barnabas in unity of purpose and mindset to forge ahead and build the church preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ enlarging the frontiers of mission in the areas of coverage.

He prayed that the Diocese will be a place of refuge, prayers and discipleship.
