Marking the 44th anniversary of Christ Morning Star Nigeria (CMSN), the Archdeacon of Agege and Vicar of Christ Church, Diocese of Lagos West (Anglican Communion), Venerable Tunde Owoyele, charged members to embrace Christ’s love as the only way to overcome worldly challenges and pressures. Speaking at the anniversary celebration held at Christ Church, Agege, Lagos, Owoyele delivered a sermon on the theme “This is the Lord’s Doing.”
Referencing scripture, Owoyele reminded attendees that Christ is the foundation of their lives and warned that neglecting Him leads to turmoil. He stated, “Some of you are at the twilight of your life; others are just starting. Life is unpredictable, and we are all sojourners on earth. It is unwise to lose sight of your Creator. No matter your achievements, a life without Christ will end in crisis.”
He further encouraged CMSN members to root their identity in Christ, saying, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe. Let the name of Christ inspire and strengthen you to persevere. Without Him, we can do nothing.”
Owoyele urged the congregation to serve God with complete devotion, adding, “Serve the Lord with all your mind, soul, and body. Hold nothing back. When you give your all to God, He will work wonders through you.” He emphasized that true fulfillment comes from surrendering to God and living a life of service.
Advising members to embody Christ-like love, he said, “Do not repay evil with evil. Instead, love your enemies and pray for them, just as Christ did. Let love be your guiding principle in all things.”
The event, which drew members and non-members from across Nigeria, also featured the presentation of the 2024 Presidential Award to Lagos Chapter President, Star Segun Sobowale. Owoyele concluded by praying for the continued success of the society, asking God to bless its members and grant their desires.
