Gafcon to Establish ‘Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC)’ a New Diocese in UK and Europe

The Global Anglican Future Conference, Gafcon is set to establish an additional diocese called ‘Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC) Europe’ in the United Kingdom and Europe on October 15 in Manchester, England. 

This was made known in a communique released by the Gafcon General Secretary, The Rt Revd Paul Donison, on Thursday 19th September 2024. He noted that its with great delight to announce the establishment of a new Gafcon diocese, to be led by its newest bishop-elect, the Venerable Dr Gideon Ilechukwu.

Bishop Donison noted that thirteen years ago, Gafcon planted a church in Manchester, England, which has now grown to a fellowship of 39 churches with 52 ministers across the UK and Europe.

“We rejoice with orthodox Anglicans around the world as we witness the power of the Holy Spirit as he brings life and light to our world that deeply needs the gospel of God.”

The Gafcon Anglican Network in Europe will inaugurate this fellowship of congregations into a new diocese called ‘Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC) Europe’, and with the endorsement of the Chairman of our Primates’ Council, they will consecrate and install Gideon as its bishop, to serve under Bishop Andy Lines.

Bishop Donison added that Gafcon is uniquely equipped to resource and recognise new dioceses like this, and through various partnership, many can help Gafcon movement grow and serve faithful Anglicans across the globe.

Donison asked for everyone to pray for Gideon and the Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC) Europe Diocese, and the opportunities for Gafcon to continue to equip him and his churches for mission.

He appreciated all the prayers and financial support that enables Gafcon to provide crucial leadership and support for new churches, leaders and dioceses around the world.

As our Gafcon family launches this new Anglican ministry, please join us in praying to the Lord, “that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations!” (Psalm 67:2), he added.
