The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber who has been terrorising residents of Akobo area of Ibadan.
Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday.
Its been earlier reported that a suspected armed robber was arrested by residents of the area.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspect, identified as Ayomide Adebayo, was arrested after robbing an eatery around general gas along the Akobo Road.
The suspect was later taken to Akobo police station.
Police spokesman, Adewale Osifeso confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
Osifeso, while reacting, confirmed that the suspect was arrested around 2.pm on Wednesday.
He maintained that police have launched an investigation into the matter.
He said that “An arrest was effected on Wednesday 08/09/2021 at about 1400hrs around Akobo Area under Lagelu LGA, in response to a robbery distress call.
“Comprehensive investigations are ongoing as of this moment and further developments would be communicated, please.”
