Wife of Osun State Governor, Kafayat Oyetola, on Wednesday led over 700 women drawn from various religious groups and denominations in three-hour interdenominational prayers for peace and security of the country.
In the prayer session tagged, ‘All Women Prayer for Peace and Security,’ the women also prayed against scarcity of food and for peaceful governorship elections in the state.
The participants at the prayer, mostly women, include those from the Catholic Women Organisation, Osun Baptist Conference, NASFAT, Celestial Church of Christ, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ansarudeen, Nawarudeen, and Osun Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria.
A former Osun State Commissioner for Information, Mrs Remi Wilson, urged women not to support the move to break up the country
Alhaja Latifat Kolawole, who delivered a sermon at the event, implored the wife of the governor and other political office holders in the state to always ensure that “every member of the society have access to you in order to have accurate information of public perception of the administration.”
Mrs Oyetola said the prayer session was an intervention by the Nigerian Governors Wives Forum to tackle the challenge of insecurity in the country.
She said, “There is no part of this country that can afford to ignore the situation of insecurity in the country today. We all need to approach the Almighty God to urgently change the direction of events in our nation and make us healthy again.”
