Wole Soyinka Centre Speaks On Role Of Media Amidst Coronavirus

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has spoken on the role of media amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of the team, Motunrayo Alaka.

She said the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic can be evidenced in different facets of our lives.

“Globally and nationally, its harsh realities have reflected in areas of employment, economic downturn, factory shutdown, school closure, job loss, paycheck cuts, impending inflation, restriction of human movement, delayed access to medical care, remote work protocol options, uncertainty, anxiety and fear of the future among many others.

“In the midst of all these challenges, the media must continue to play its role by spreading news of hope and disseminating the right information through proper reportage in order to uphold the moral sanctity of the society.

“COVID-19’s reflection is in many aspects of our livelihood, threatening our very existence as a people, but staying alive, sane and healthy remains the most important to our wellbeing.

“In this edition of our newsletter, we share tips and resources that will help journalists stay healthy mentally and adapt to new changes in workplace journalism with better efficiency to scale through the present turbulent time.”
