Ademola Lookman, newly crowned African Player of the Year, has shared his pride and gratitude after winning the prestigious award.
The Super Eagles winger was honored as the best player in Africa on Monday in Marrakech, Morocco, beating four other nominees for the title.
Describing the recognition as “incredible,” Lookman took the opportunity to inspire young people facing challenges, urging them to persevere.
“I want to thank Almighty God for everything He’s done in my life and for His countless blessings,” Lookman said during his acceptance speech.
He expressed appreciation to his teammates, club, and country, saying, “This award is for me, my family, and my nation. I also thank the Presidents, my teammates, and everyone for their support and love.”
Reflecting on his journey, Lookman shared, “Just over four years ago, I failed in front of the world. Fast forward to today, and I’ve been named the best player in Africa. It’s an incredible feeling, and I’m extremely proud.”
In his closing remarks, Lookman encouraged resilience among young people. “To all the young children and people watching, don’t let your failures hold you back or break your spirit. Turn your pain into power and keep soaring. God bless,” he said.
