On Friday, President Bola Tinubu pledged to utilize his constitutional powers to ensure that the Nigerian military is fully equipped, armed, and empowered to meet the nation’s security challenges.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony for Course 32 participants at the National Defence College in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, emphasized the critical role of strategic leadership in addressing Nigeria’s complex security and development issues.
Acknowledging the progress made by his administration, Tinubu noted the need for further improvements at the National Defence College’s permanent site in Abuja and reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing upgrades. The President praised the sacrifices and achievements of the Armed Forces in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and vowed to continue providing the necessary resources to ensure their effectiveness.
Tinubu also commended the Course 32 graduates for their contributions to his administration’s research on harnessing the mining industry for national security and development, highlighting the importance of their recommendations. He further stressed the significance of a conducive business environment and international collaboration in maximizing the mining sector’s potential.
The President concluded by urging the graduates to uphold values such as excellence, courage, and patriotism in their future roles and to use their newly acquired skills to tackle Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges. The Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, lauded the graduates’ dedication, noting their readiness to bolster strategic leadership across various sectors.
