The Zimbabwe Football Association has announced the appointment of Michael Nees as the new head coach of the Warriors.
With the suspension on Zimbabwean football recently lifted by FIFA, the Warriors had been operating under interim management for their initial 2026 World Cup qualifying rounds.
On Thursday afternoon, ZIFA officially introduced Nees, a German national, as the team’s new coach. He has been tasked with leading the Warriors to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Zimbabwe will compete in a group that includes Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Benin’s Cheetah, South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, and Rwanda’s Amavubi.
