In an exciting announcement, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has revealed the nominees for the 2024 awards.
Among the 30 players competing for the title, which will see a new winner following 2023’s Erling Haaland of Manchester City, are Nigeria’s Super Eagles duo, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Lookman, also a contender for the Ballon d’Or, has had an impressive year, leading Atalanta to their first European title and scoring three goals to help the Super Eagles reach the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Osimhen has similarly played a crucial role in Nigeria’s AFCON journey, netting double-digit goals for Napoli and making a strong impact at Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray.
The Nigerian stars will face off against other notable players, including Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Phil Foden.
