An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the surge in electricity tariffs across the country.
As a strong advocate of Tinubu’s leadership, Igbokwe warned that the steep rise in tariffs could devastate businesses if immediate action isn’t taken. In a Facebook post on Saturday, he lamented that N20,000 worth of electricity now lasts just a day.
Igbokwe appealed for a review of the rates, sharing his personal experience: “PBAT, please look into the new electricity tariff in Nigeria. It will kill businesses if the government doesn’t act quickly. My small office in Surulere, with seven AC units, used to get over 300 units for N20,000, but now N20,000 worth of units lasts only one day. This is under Band A group. I hope this issue is revisited soon.”
