History was made today as the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Awgu/Aninri, His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Benson Chukwunweike and his amiable wife, Mrs. Ifeoma Chukwunweike (Nnechichetara) invited all the farmers in the Awgu and Aninri LGAs to Farmers Outreach.
The event which took place at the Government field, Awgu LGA headquarters in Awgu, gathered hundreds of farmers and clergy of the Diocese with representatives from the government.
The Bishop declared the event open and gave a wonderful and encouraging message from Psalms 126 and Acts 14:7.
After the message, which focused on “Rogation” (Asking for God’s intervention, prosperity, protection and bountiful harvest), and filled with prophetic declarations, the Bishop led the people in a heartwarming prayers and blessings for their lives, families and communities. He clearly declared bountiful harvest in their farming ventures this year and prayed that God will deliver them from all evils.
The Awgu LGA Secretary, Barr. Linus Maduka who re-presented the Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Pedro Nwankwo gave a vote of thanks and appreciated the Bishop for this wonderful initiative, and promised him that he will relay the details of the event to his principal.
You will recall that the people of Awgu and Aninri LGAs are predominantly farmers, and this is farming season. Therefore, this event is not only to pray for the farmers, the Bishop and wife shared bags of fertilizer to hundreds of people that attended the event.
Bishop Chukwunweike and wife generously and magnanimously shared these bags of fertilizer, which cost them more than 1 Million Naira, to the farmers who are mainly widows, without any donation or subvention from government at any level. This is massive and sacrificial. May the Lord bless this act of kindness and generosity.
In his speech, the Bishop noted that by God’s grace and provision, this event will become an annual event in Awgu and Aninri LGAs.
The event attracted both Anglicans and non-Anglicans, however, the Bishop directed that the bags of fertilizer should be shared to everyone noting that this event cuts across denominational affiliations.
Bishop Chukwunweike who was Enthroned to the See of Awgu/Aninri barely two years ago has shown that he’s indeed an Apostle and a Prophet sent by God to unlock the hidden treasures in Awgu and Aninri lands. It will not be easy, but it has become obvious that He’s heavily backed by heaven and he will indeed succeed in his Episcopal ministry and bring divine transformation in the church and society.
It’s our prayer that God will continue to uphold Bishop Benson Chukwunweike and his wife, even as they seek under God to transform the spiritual and economic growth of the people in the 25 towns that made up his Diocese, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Indeed, we rise by lifting others up.
