Profile of Venerable Allu Luka Boyi, Bishop-Elect of Nasarawa Missionary Diocese

Ven. Dr. Allu Luka Boyi was born on the 25th January 1968, to late Mr. Allu Kigbu and late Mrs. Jummai Allu. They both hailed from Washo, Nasarwa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He started his early education at Local Government Education Authority, (L.G.E.D) Ginda Gudi Station, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government in 1978 and finished in 1983 where he got his first School Leaving Certificate. He had his Secondary School Education from 1983-1988 at Government Secondary School Mada Station where he sat for his West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). His leadership qualities came to light early in his life when he was appointed as the house captain of Awe House in final year. 

He later proceeded to St. Francis of Assisi Theological College Wusasa-Zaria and obtained Diploma in Theology (Dip.Th.). He obtained a Bachelor of Theology (Practical Theology) from Theological College of Northern Nigeria Bukuru, Jos Plateau State (2005 – 2008). He also has a Master’s Degree in Theology, from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary Abeokuta, Master of Art (M.A) Ajayi Crowther University Oyo (2017) and Doctor of Philosophy in 2017. (Church History).

He was called into full time ministry 1990 when he was posted to Emmanuel Anglican Church Agyaragu in Obi L.G.A as Church Agent then, in Diocese of Jos (1990-1991). He was then transferred to Holy Trinity Church, Assokio (1991-1993).

In the period between 1996 and 1999, the Ven. Allu served at St. Jude Anglican Church, Burumbrum. This was followed by a transfer to St. Peter’s Church, Nasarawa Eggon, where he ministered from 1999 to 2004, a period during which he also undertook a visit to Israel in 2001. 

His subsequent postings included St. Philip’s Church, Mada Station (2004-2006), and St. Barnabas Church, Gadabuke (2006-2008). Concurrently, he served as the Discipline Officer for Single-Men quarters at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria, Bukuru, Jos, from 2007 to 2008. Further transfers saw him move to Emmanuel Anglican Church, Doma (2008-2014), St. Peter’s Church, Akwanga (2014-2018), and then to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Masaka (2018-2022). 

Since 2022, he has been stationed at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Keffi. Additionally, his service has extended into the interfaith sector, where he has served as the Nasarawa State CAN Director of Inter-Faith/Ecumenism from 2023 to the present day.

In addition to his parish duties, he has held several significant leadership positions within the church and ecumenical bodies. His involvement with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) includes serving as the Secretary for the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area from 2000 to 2003, and later as CAN Chairman for the Agidi Development Area (Mada Station) in Nasarawa State from 2004 to 2006. 

He then served as the CAN Chairman for the Doma Local Government Area from 2009 to 2014. Within the Diocese of Lafia, he was appointed Chairman of the House of Clergy from 2017 to 2020 and has held the role of Chaplain for the Diocesan Christian Men Fellowship since 2018.

Ven. Allu was ordained into the Diaconate on July 20, 1997, at St. Luke’s Cathedral, Jos, by The Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin A. Kwashi.

A year later, he was ordained into the Priesthood on May 31, 1998, at St. Piran’s Church, Jos, also by The Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin A. Kwashi.

His service was further recognized with his installation as a Canon at St. James Cathedral, Lafia, on May 28, 2009, by The Rt. Rev. Miller K. Maza JP.

He attained his current title, Archdeacon, at St. James Cathedral, Lafia, on May 24, 2012, again by The Rt. Rev. Miller K. Maza JP, cementing his role as a senior leader and administrator in the diocese.

Beyond his ecclesiastical duties, Ven. Allu is a devoted family man. He has been happily married to Mrs. Esther Allu since March 25, 1989. Their union has been blessed with six children: three sons and three daughters.

Ven. Allu Luka Boyi is a very respectful and devoted minister of the gospel, who will not compromise his commitment to peace, religious harmony.
