The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, has set up  Alternative Dispute Resolution Taskforce to primarily see to all CoN disputes withdrawn and settled out of courts. This decision was contained in the Primatial address to the just concluded Standing Committee of the Church held at Evo Diocese, Portharcourt.

He urged members to pursue peace and reconciliation as tools in resolving conflicts in the church. He said good relationship with one another is vital for mission work and God’s kingdom, adding that peace must be pursued in the church.

The Primate who spoke during the Standing Committee of the Church on the progress in restoring peace in the troubled areas, disclosed that the crises in some of dioceses he inherited have been resolved, also warned that henceforth no diocese would be created out of quarrels, agitations and fights.

“Good relationship is vital for mission work and the Kingdom of God. Jesus said that making peace with your neighbour, brothers and sisters is more preferred by God to your offerings and sacrifices. In this Decade of the Reign of God, it is the principles of God’s Kingdom that will guide us. Might is not right,” he said.

To further continue the work of reconciliation internally, the Primate constituted a Standing Alternative Dispute Resolution Taskforce to work with those who have court cases affecting the church to withdraw all such cases from courts, intervene on behalf of the Church and resolve them. He also appealed to the Bishops, the Clergy and members to cooperate and resolve their differences.

The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria Most Revd Henry Ndukuba  said the body would work with aggrieved parties to first withdraw their “cases from Courts, intervene on behalf of the church and resolve them ” .

The Standing  Committee in EVO Diocese reviewed many cases and resolved to instill discipline,  bring peace and harmony among the rank and file in the Church.
Of note is the bringing back of the orthodox Anglican Church and other splinter groups into Anglican Communion family.  The “Archbishop” Solomon Adewumi who defected to an orthodox church is back..
Excited Primate Ndukuba said: ” We are grateful to  all whom God used in resolving the issues. The good news is that God has brought The Ven. Solomon back to the church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.  He is posted  to the Diocese of Kwara and has resumed there on 2nd January 2022.” More than 35 others have followed him back. Some of them are also willing to surrender their churches and chapels to Church of Nigeria, such as in Badagry and other places. We are requesting the Bishops to consider each case and persons and restore these sons as the case may demand.”
Other places of concern as highlighted in the address are currently handled under the Primatial supervision.
