A housewife and mother of four children Abosede Adeyemi, 39 has been remanded at the Kirikiri Prison in Lagos till she is able to fulfill the bail conditions granted her by an Igbosere Magistrates Court for allegedly conniving with her husband to steal her lover’s properties valued at about N5m.

Also remanded at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos for the same alleged offence pending perfection of his bail was her husband, Akanni Adeyemi, 43.

A Police source said that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FSARS, Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos, Ibrahim Kaoje directed a team led by
ASP Ganiyu Ajayi to arrest Abosede following a petition by Obembe Taiwo
that he left his lover at home and travelled out, but that before he came back, his lover stole all his properties and escaped.

During investigation, according to the Police, Abosede allegedly confessed to the crime that she stole her lover’s properties with the help of her husband.

She led the police to arrest her husband at a hideout, who also allegedly confessed to the crime, alleging that his wife  dragged him into the mess.

The couple led the police to the buyers of some of the stolen properties where a
Toyota Corola, 2006 model valued at N2.4m and other items were recovered.

Police Counsel, Nosa Uhunwhangho informed the Court in charge No C/67/2017 that Abosede committed the offence at 82, Kiujore Street, Ojota, Lagos where she was living with the complainant as lovers.

Uhunwhangho told the Court that trouble started for Abosede and her husband when she lied to the complainant that her husband had fled home and abandoned her and children to suffer.

He said that the complainant out of human symparty, allowed Abosede and her four children to be living with him as lovers unknown to him that Abosede had sinister motives.

Uhunwhangho said that Abosede manifested her motive on 18 August, 2017 when the complainant left her at home on trust and travelled out.

He said that abosede used her lover’s absence to call her husband she claimed had abandoned her and the children to assist in stealing her lover’s properties worth about N5m, including a car and sold them.

Uhunwhaangho noted that the offences committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The couple pleaded not guilty to the charge and Chief Magistrate A.O
Komolafe granted them bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Komolafe adjourned the case till 7 November, 2017 for mention and ordered that the couple be remanded at the Kirikiri and Ikoyi prisons till they were able to meet the bail conditions.
