Ikechukwu Onubogu, a camera man with the Anambra Broadcasting Service, who was declared missing last Monday, has been found dead.

His body was found by men of the Nigerian Police Force at Obosi, Idemili North local government area, which is said to be one of the state’s hot bed for crime.

Mr Onubogu, a humble journalist, who is said to be in His late fifties, DAILY POST NEWSPAPER gathered, was last seen on Sunday, November 12.

He was reported to have received a strange phone call and walked out of the house with his camera without telling anyone of his movement.

His remains which was said to have bullet marks have been deposited at the Amaku morgue, Awka for an autopsy.

A statement by Nze Uche Nworah, MD/CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service on the death of Mr Ik Onubogu said, “The horrific death of our beloved and hardworking staff, Mr Ik Onubogu has thrown the entire ABS family into mourning.

“IK was a peace loving man and you would never expect that anybody would want to harm him. He was dedicated to his job and would do anything to capture images that will help viewers to make meaning of every developing story.

“We will surely miss him. We cannot speculate at this time the circumstances that led to his death as the police are already working hard to unravel what happened. His death once again reminds us all of the dangers journalists face in Africa in the course of discharging their professional responsibilities.

“Our thoughts remain with his family, particularly his wife who recently gave birth. We ask our friends, colleagues and associates to remember the Onubogu family in their prayers during this difficult time.

“ABS management will release another statement on this in due time”.
