The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, inaugurated the state’s Special Dispensation ‘Palliative’ Advisory Committee.
The unveiling of the committee comes days after the governor rolled out various forms of palliative measures to ease on residents the economic hardship occasioned by the economic policies of the Federal Government, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.
Sanwo-Olu, in a post on X on Sunday via @jidesanwoolu, announced the inauguration of the committee, saying it would be responsible “for our welfare packages, dual-win feeding strategy, amongst other direct intervention initiatives.”
Among the members of the unveil committee is the President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Eze Anaba, and some clerics.
Sanwo-Olu said, “Our committee, dedicated to transparency and merit, comprises members selected from major stakeholder groups across Lagos. They include Imam Abdulazeez Onike, Chief Missioner of NASFAT; Pastor Godman Akinlabi, Senior Pastor of Elevation Church; Hon Seyi Sowunmi, Labour Party Reps member; Joe Okei-Odumakin; Hon Kolade Alabi; Taofeeq Ganiu (former Peoples Democratic Party Publicity Secretary); Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron (LP member, former DFID official); Hon. Ademola Shabi (Rep, LAHA); Biliaminu Oba (youth representative); Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government (Secretary of the committee); Eze Anaba, President, Nigerian Guild of Editors; and Sola Salako-Ajulo (Consumer Rights Advocate).”
He noted that these individuals “bring diverse expertise, and their work will be guided by the principles of empathy and dignity as we strive to make a significant impact in serving our people.”
Sanwo-Olu last Thursday announced a 25 per cent rebate on fares for government-owned transport schemes.
The governor spoke during a live media chat to intimate residents of steps being taken to reduce the economic burden on Lagosians. The governor also approved work-from-home for civil servants.
