The Former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo are among top dignitaries expected at the inauguration of the Christian chapel at the National Assembly of Nigeria on March 1.
Also expected at the unveiling of the 750-seat worship centre are Remi Tinubu, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Daniel Okoh, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Francis Oke, and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, among others.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, Senator Binus Yaroe and Hon. Bamidele Salam, representing Ede north/Ede south/Ejigbo federal constituency who serve as President and Secretary of the Christian Legislators Fellowship respectively, said the non-denominational chapel will promote spiritual fellowship among Christian lawmakers and staff of the National Assembly.
They added that the event will bring together Christian leaders, policymakers and other dignitaries in what they described as a moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection.
The chapel project was initiated in May 2019 during the tenure of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
