Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian Super Eagles striker, is poised to earn a substantial €6 million net salary for the 2024-2025 season after joining Turkish Super League club Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli.
Announced by Galatasaray on Wednesday, the agreement means Osimhen will receive about €115,000 per week after taxes during his one-year stint in Turkey. The transfer was completed without a fee, as stated in the official announcement from the club.
The 24-year-old, who was recently honored as African Footballer of the Year, will wear the number 45 jersey for Galatasaray. The official statement read: “An agreement has been reached with Victor James Osimhen and his club SSC Napoli for the player’s temporary transfer free of charge. He will be paid a net seasonal salary of €6,000,000 for the 2024-2025 season. This is respectfully announced to the public.”
Osimhen’s move to Turkey concludes a protracted transfer saga involving Chelsea and Saudi club Al Ahli. With negotiations with Chelsea breaking down and the Saudi deal falling through, the loan deal with Galatasaray provides a temporary resolution. Napoli retains an option to extend Osimhen’s contract until 2027.
