Outraged by the recent violence, Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, condemned the killing of two officers during a Shiite procession in Abuja. Igweh described the group’s actions as “provocative” and criticized their attack on security personnel, which also left two policewomen critically injured.

The violent clash at Wuse Market not only resulted in the tragic deaths of a trader and two officers but also saw the burning of three police vehicles. Addressing the situation at Force Headquarters, Abuja, Igweh expressed his firm stance against any form of aggression towards his team, declaring that those responsible for the violence will face justice.

“The Shiites have now escalated their aggression to the point of declaring war on our officers,” Igweh stated. “We have spoken with their lawyer, and their statements confirm this hostility. This will be the last protest of this nature in the FCT.”

The determined police chief assured that the force will not tolerate further attacks and will respond decisively to protect its personnel.
