Tafa Balogun, former Inspector General of Police, IGP, has appealed to men of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, to return to duty.

Police officers have not been visible in their policing duties since the End SARS protests and destruction that occasioned the demonstration.

Amid the protests, some hoodlums had burnt down some police stations, while some officers were killed and their properties destroyed.

However, Balogun urged the officers to ignore the attacks they suffered and return to their stations.

In a statement he issued last night, the former IGP pointed out that the police was the first line of defense in the country, hence they should resume their duties.

The former IGP also assured the officers that Nigerians love them.

According to Balogun: “I urge all members of the Nigeria Police in our country to return to their duty posts and continue to provide the much-needed security to our dear country, Nigeria; not minding the recent brutal attacks, arson, and acts of intimidation against the Police.

“The Nigeria Police remains the first line of Internal Security as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution. Therefore, it behoves all and sundry not to betray the spirit of the Constitution.

“Please, once again, I appeal to all of you to return to duty without further delay.”
