Achieving remarkable success, Mountain Top Chorale, part of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), won two gold medals at the 2024 World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand.
Often referred to as the ‘Olympics of chorale music,’ the World Choir Games is the largest global choral festival and competition, celebrating diverse choral traditions from around the world.
This year’s event featured over 11,000 singers from more than 30 countries. The MFM Mountain Top Chorale competed in two categories: C19, ‘Contemporary Music Mixed Voices,’ and C22, ‘Spiritual.’ They scored 88.13 and 83.38 points, respectively, earning gold medals in both categories.
Reacting to the win on Facebook, MFM General Overseer Daniel Olukoya praised the contest organizers for “celebrating the rich tapestry of choral music” and highlighted the competition’s role in fostering global harmony through song. In a subsequent post, Olukoya congratulated the choir, saying, “Congratulations to @mountaintopchorale who won two gold medals. Representing Nigeria, they joined over 11,000 singers from more than 30 countries in Auckland, New Zealand, for the largest choral competition, the 2024 World Choir Games.”
Olukoya also noted their performance, which included ‘Ekiti Medley’ composed by Dr. Daniel Olukoya and arranged by @seunowoaje, among other compositions.
