Rt. Revd Enoch Atuboyedia JP, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Okrika, at a press briefing ahead of the forthcoming Synod, revealed that the Diocese is to embark on a lifetime housing scheme. The beneficiaries of this proposed laudable scheme will be clergymen and administrative staff of the Diocese.
Clergymen will have to pay a soft token of twenty thousand naira while administrative staff pay ten thousand naira monthly for the next fifteen years. The Diocese on its part will pay a million naira yearly to the scheme. After 15 years, every clergyman and staff member who partook in the housing scheme will have a house to his or name.
Bishop Enoch further spoke on the achievements of the Diocese, especially as it concerns the welfare of the church, both clergy and laity. So far, the Diocese take care of the tertiary education of 15 members. It recently also trained 269 individuals in various skills. There’s also a free yearly medical scheme for all clergymen who take care of their routine checkup. All expenses are fully paid by the Diocese.
The 2nd session of the 7th Synod is scheduled to be held on the 4th through 7th May, 2023, at the Cathedral of St. Peter’s Okrika. The theme is “We Wrestle Not,” and it’s derived from Ephesians 6:12.
