Jos – On Wednesday afternoon, the Plateau State government announced a relaxation of the previously imposed 24-hour curfew in the Jos/Bukuru metropolis, allowing residents limited freedom of movement.
According to a statement signed by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the curfew has been adjusted due to improvements in the area’s security situation.
Starting from Wednesday, August 7, 2024, residents will be permitted to move freely between 2 pm and 6 pm daily, until further notice.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who authorized the curfew adjustment after consulting with security agencies, commended their efforts in enforcing the curfew and maintaining public order. He stressed the continued need for vigilance to prevent any potential disruptions and assured that the government will keep monitoring the situation.
The governor also encouraged residents to work closely with security personnel and report any suspicious activities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens and praised the community for their cooperation and adherence to the curfew, highlighting its importance for the overall security of the State.
