THE Jigawa State has confirmed the death of one person who tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed cases in the state to nine.
This was disclosed by the Chairman COVID-19 state task force Dr. Abba Zakari while briefing newsmen on Thursday, “out of 11 samples sent to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital five confirmed positive,” he said.
Dr Zakari Umar explained that ” the confirmed cases are two in Dutse the state capital, one in Auyo Gwaram and Miga local government areas in the state “.
According to him “the state so far has nine cases including the first four cases confirmed last week”.
“I regret to announce that among of the five recent confirmed cases, one has died few hours after he was taken to our isolation centre here in the capital city, Dutse ”
The chairman task force committee noted the deceased was buried according to Islamic rate in accordance with the National Center for Diseases Control guidelines.
He disclosed that ” all the confirmed cases in Jigawa were brought from outside the state. Three of the recent cases were returnees from Lagos, while others had travelled outside the state “.
Meanwhile, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has ordered the lockdown of the affected four local governments for one week effect from Friday 12 midnight.
