About 11,800 metric tons of general cargoes have been received at Calabar Port, as a ship, named MV Yong Jin, berthed at the facility

The Calabar Port Manager, Mr. Festus Olumati, stated this, yesterday while addressing newsmen at the port.

He disclosed that the vessel, which arrived on September 24 from China, contained heavy-duty trucks, buses, excavators, trucks, and pipes, among others.

He said the Calabar Port, which he declared viable and open for business, received the largest vessel for the second time in the last three months.

“The vessel arrived from China with 11,800 metric tons of general cargo, comprising 107 heavy-duty trucks, buses, and pipes, among others. The length of the vessel is 190 meters; this is the second largest vessel we are receiving within the past three months.

“This goes to tell us that Calabar Port is viable and working. In line with our mandate, we are committed to making sure this port is working effectively.

“The berthing of this vessel has productively engaged many Cross-River residents and others. The number of young people working here right now is much,” he said.

The Captain of the vessel, Mr. Jian Xin, confirmed that the vessel came from China Shipping Company.
