During the funeral and thanksgiving service for the late Elizabeth Areola Abeo Oke, mother of Bishop Francis Wale Oke, held at James Oke Memorial Anglican Church in Kasumu Village, Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State vowed to prioritize infrastructure development to stimulate growth and productivity.
As the National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Oke is also the founder of Christ Life Church Worldwide and the promoter of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU).
Highlighting his commitment to infrastructure, Makinde pledged to extend road construction to various areas across the state. He also cautioned residents against selling their lands, advising them to retain ownership as land values are likely to increase significantly. Makinde revealed plans to transform the dormant Erunmu Dry Port into a Container Terminal, which will further boost economic activity.
He emphasized the progress of the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road Project, expressing his dedication to completing it before the end of his tenure. Makinde believes that these road projects will drive substantial economic transformation in the region.
Celebrating the life of the late Madam Elizabeth Areola Abeo Oke, Governor Makinde praised her as a woman of remarkable character who positively impacted her community. He highlighted her longevity, noting that her 97 years were a true blessing.
During his sermon, Bishop Williams Aladekugbe of the Ibadan North Diocese (Anglican Communion) emphasized that death should be viewed not as a tragedy but as a transition to everlasting peace.
On behalf of the family, Bishop Wale Oke expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Makinde for his transformative efforts in the state’s infrastructure development.
“I only requested a road to this place from the governor,” Bishop Oke remarked, “but he has extended it to Kasumu Village and promised to continue to Owobale, which is 2.2 kilometers from here.”
Makinde pledged to extend road construction to various areas across the state, cautioning residents against selling their lands and advising them to hold onto their properties as values are expected to rise. He also unveiled plans to convert the moribund Erunmu Dry Port into a Container Terminal, aiming to stimulate further economic growth.
Moreover, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road Project, promising its completion before the end of his tenure. He underscored that these infrastructure initiatives will lead to significant economic transformation in the region.
