The Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia, has called on the people of Ibaka and the entire Wakirike nation to forsake traditions and customs that hold no eternal value.

During his episcopal visit to St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Ibaka, on Sunday, Bishop Atuboyedia delivered a stirring sermon titled “Vain Customs,” drawn from Jeremiah 10:1-3. He urged the congregation to reject practices that hinder true worship and devotion to God.

Describing vain customs as traditions that are spiritually unprofitable, the Bishop cautioned against astrology, idol worship, fetish burial rites, masquerading—linked to marine worship—libations, cultism, and satanism.

“God is calling the entire Okrika nation to renounce these vain customs and return to Him in sincerity and truth,” he declared.

The service also featured significant spiritual milestones, including the confirmation of new communicants, the admission of men into the Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF), and the induction of women into the Mothers’ Union/Women’s Guild (MU/WG).

Bishop Atuboyedia’s message resonated deeply with the congregation, reinforcing the call for a renewed commitment to genuine Christian living. The event concluded with prayers for the Ibaka community and the entire Okrika nation.
