 Speaking on burning issues in the country the panel discussion on the Now Streaming show on ACNN-TV, had a deep look at the attempts of the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

The guest, The Ven. Joseph Unuayan,, JP, Director, Civic and Political Affairs, Church of Nigeria, spoke on the fact that everyone must have realized by now that the nation is in a dire situation and rapid solutions must be taken.

A strategic, realistic and fair method of compiling the social register of the nation will be a good move, the guest mentioned. This is in view of the proposed NEC resolutions.

He questioned the proposed palliative to be given to the less privilege as it doesn’t look like a practical solution the present situation. He mentioned that measures should’ve been put in place before the removal of subsidy, also by allowing it to be removed naturally by developing the crude oil sector by develop, without insensitively destroying modular refineries which in turn damages the environment instead of licensing these refineries. The assertion on the show was that when people are made to be financially free, they become empowered and this scares the elite class who try by all means to maintain the status quo of the nation.

The government to be transparent in handling the funds to be accrued from the removal of the subsidy, deploy such funds to visible infrastructural development and sectors and control price range of essential things such as food. in the nation. That way they will gain the trust of Nigerians. They were also advised to look into the travails of the citizens of the nation, measures should be put in place to make the effect of the subsidy removal less harsh. In all Nigerians were encouraged to be tougher than the problems.
