Unknown gunmen over the weekend stormed Agbo Hotel at Ajaawa community, Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State, kidnapping the owner of the hotel, Olukunle Oyedokun, his younger wife with the child she is nursing, two daughters, granddaughter, sister-in-law, her son and a guest at the hotel. Daily Independent reports that the wife of the hotelier, Busayo Oyedokun, and the baby she’s nursing; his first child, Omoriyeba, and her six-year-old daughter, Adesewa; his brother’s wife, Julianah Oyedokun, and her 10-year-old son, John; and another child belonging to Oyedokun, Oluwajuwonlo alongside a guest in his hotel were whisked away by the abductors. The Nigeria Police Force has deployed helicopters to Imo State to provide surveillance, following numerous attacks in the state by gunmen. Recall that gunmen on Saturday attacked the country home of the state Governor, Hope Uzodinma. The residence of the Governor was attacked after security operatives killed the second commander of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Ikonso. It was gathered that the helicopters deployed to the state flew at very low level. The residents are, however, not comfortable with the height of the helicopters. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against the use of hair smoothing products containing formaldehyde. The agency says the U.S Food and Drug Administration has informed it of the short and long-term effects of formaldehyde exposure in hair smoothing products. The alert, No: 006/2021 – Formaldehyde in Hair Smoothing Products, was signed by the Director-General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, and issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday. United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will virtually meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over security and economic issues, a statement from the US State Department said on Monday. The meeting is part of Blinken’s first virtual trip to Africa, which begins on Tuesday. He is scheduled to visit Kenya and Nigeria while engaging with young people from across the continent. Gunmen have attacked another police station in Ehime Mbano, Okigwe South Local Government Area of Imo State, killing five officers while one officer is said to be missing. The armed bandits also razed the police building. The spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.
