The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has urged Christians to fervently pray for Nigeria, seeking God’s intervention in the many challenges facing the country.
Governor Soludo made this appeal through his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, during a prayer rally organized by the Province of the Niger of the Anglican Communion at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The event, themed “It Shall Be Well With The Righteous,” highlighted the church’s vital role in interceding for both the state and the nation. Professor Soludo commended the church for its efforts and encouraged greater commitment, assuring that his government would continue to partner with the church, recognizing it as an essential pillar of society.
In his address, the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, stressed the importance of turning away from evil and returning to God, affirming that God protects His own and urging Christians not to lose faith, as there is hope ahead. Earlier, in a sermon aligned with the event’s theme, the Anglican Bishop of Ihiala Diocese, Right Reverend Prof. Israel Okoye, reminded the congregation to maintain their faith and dismiss the recent claims labeling the church as a scam, which he described as a misguided and baseless reductionism.
