TOPIC: GOD IS TAKING RECORD
TEXT: Genesis 5: 21-24(NKJV)
- 5:21. Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah.
- 5:22. After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.
- 5:23. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
- 5:24. And Enoch walked with God; and he [was] not, for God took him.
STUDY:
Our text today is about Enoch who walked with God and did not die because God took him. The records of those that lived before and after Enoch in the scriptures indicate names, children and the number of years lived. But the uniqueness in Enoch is that he did the will of God.
In the entire Bible, Enoch and Elijah enjoyed the same transition from earth to heaven because their lives pleased God (Gen. 5:24; 2 Kings 2:11&12). The significance of Enoch’s story is to remind every believer that God takes record of all actions, the intents of our hearts, and the place of faith in our Christian journey.
As believers, we should also note that we can remain faithful even in a perverse world because without faith, it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6). Without faith in God, our Christian journey is in vain. It is by faith that we believe in God and the scripture. The story of Enoch is to challenge us to have faith in God and do his Will We should beware of how we live our lives because God keeps record.
PRAYER:
Dear God, please help me to sustain my faith in you to the end in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
