TOPIC: MAHER-SHALAL-HASH-BAZ
TEXT: Isaiah 8:1-4(NKJV)
- 8:1. Moreover the LORD said to me, “Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
- 8:2. “And I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
- 8:3. Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the LORD said to me, “Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;
- 8:4. “for before the child shall have knowledge to cry ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria.”
STUDY:
From our text yesterday, God gave Isaiah further instructions: He should impregnate his wife and give the son that would be born the name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz (meaning “Quick-loot-fast-plunder” – GNT). This indicates the swiftness of the Assyrian attack and invasion on Damascus (Capital of Syria) and Samaria (Capital of Israel, the Northern Kingdom) and their plundering.
The name of the child would serve as a conti before the child would learn to speak intelligibly, meaning it would co fast. Our God usually takes time to warn us about an impending dan execute his judgement as to give those concerned the opportunity to rep to change from that particular lifestyle?
Has He not been patient enou before He changes his mind. Today is the acceptable time; today is thed of salvation(2 Cor.6:2).
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please give me the grace to heed to your warning before it’s late. Amen!
