Topic: THE LORD HAS CHOSEN ZION
Text: Psalm 132:10-18
131:10 For Your servant David’s sake, Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed
131:11 The Lord has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.
131:12 If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I shall teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”
132:13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:
132:14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
132:15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
132:16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
132:17 There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.
132:18 His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”
STUDY:
Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem and the most significant of all the sacred places in Biblical times. In Abraham’s time, it was called Mount Moriah, and that was where God provided a ram for sacrifice in place of his son, Isaac (Gen.22:2,13). Solomon later built the temple there (2 Chron.3:1). Verses 13-14 echo the long association of Zion with the presence of God, while verse 15 refers to it as a source of blessing. Zion is also referred to as a source of help, salvation, righteousness, strength, and refuge (vv. 16-17; Psalm 20:2;110:2; Joel 3:16). Indeed, the Lord has chosen Zion!
In the same way, if you have given your life to Christ, the Lord has chosen you as His own dwelling place and His own possession. You have become a new creation, a chosen generation, and a royal priest (2 Cor. 5:17; 1 Peter 2:9). You have become the apple of God’s eyes, and God has become jealous for you, just as He is jealous for Zion (Zech.2:8,8:2). Have you been chosen by God? If you have not, do not let this privilege pass you by. Commit your life to Him today and become a member of God’s family!
Prayer:
Thank you LORD for choosing me as your child. Enable me to remain in you always.
