Topic: THE HEALING JESUS

Text:Luke 4:38-44

4:38 Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.

4:39 So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.

4:40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.

4:41  And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!”And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.

4:42 Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them;

4:43 but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.”

4:44  And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

STUDY:

On entering into Simon Peter’s house, Jesus was told that Peter’s mother in-law was sick. He went to her and rebuked the fever and she became healed and began to serve them. In the evening, many sick people were brought to Jesus and He healed them all. The evil spirits that came out of some people identified Jesus as the Christ and He rebuked and stopped them from speaking about Him. Jesus later departed to a solitary place but the crowd came and tried to prevent Him from leaving. He told them that He had to go to other cities and so was found preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

As part of His purpose, Jesus was always willing to heal the sick and to preach the kingdom of God to people. Preaching the gospel and healing the sick should be the hallmark of Christians, whether they are Priests, Pastors, Evangelists, or ordinary believers. Christians should follow in His steps when they preach the gospel by laying on of hands and praying for the sick. The power of God will heal the sick and the people will be drawn to Christ. Do you believe in divine healing? Then lay hands on the sick when you meet them.

Prayer

Lord, grant me the grace to lay hands on the sick and heal them in Jesus’Name. Amen.
