TOPIC: VICTORY ALL THE WAY

TEXT: 2 Samuel 8:1-8(NKJV)

  • 8:1. After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.
  • 8:2. Then he defeated Moab. Forcing them down to the ground, he measured them off with a line. With two lines he measured off those to be put to death, and with one full line those to be kept alive. So the Moabites became David’s servants, [and] brought tribute.
  • 8:3. David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his territory at the River Euphrates.
  • 8:4. David took from him one thousand [chariots,] seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. Also David hamstrung all the chariot horses, except that he spared [enough] of them for one hundred chariots.
  • 8:5. When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.
  • 8:6. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, [and] brought tribute. The LORD preserved David wherever he went.
  • 8:7. And David took the shields of gold that had belonged to the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
  • 8:8. Also from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a large amount of bronze.

STUDY:

The Lord made David victorious wherever he went such that with God’s help, he was victorious. Small or huge battles made no difference to him because God was the One fighting his battles. God is the same today. In the midst of life’s challenges, battles, trials, and persecutions, He shows forth on our behalf.

He is the One fighting our battles and with his help, we will do mighty things, for He will trample down our foes. Note what the Bible says: “But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem.

Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” Beloved, as you go to face the challenges of today, you shall be more than a conqueror through Christ! This is because He is the One fighting the battles of your life. Victory all the way!

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the assurance of your presence and victory, Amen.
